Top 4G speed smashed with 1 4 Gbps mobile call

52 commercial LTE customers around the world – more than any other vendor – Nokia Siemens Networks is familiar with 4G leadership. But even its mobile broadband experts were impressed when they earlier this month achieved world record data speeds exceeding 1.4 Gbps using an LTE-Advanced (4G) system on 100 MHz of aggregated spectrum.

The calls, involving huge file transfers and HD video streaming, hit peaks of 1.429 Gigabits-per-second. Although not aiming to replicate the feat in Barcelona, the breakthrough supports the company’s claim to being the mobile broadband specialist at Mobile World Congress 2012.

“Moments such as these only come once,” said Marc Rouanne, the company’s head of Network Systems. “Taking advanced technologies – such as LTE-Advanced – to a higher level is hugely satisfying. This work shows the potential for operators moving to LTE and beyond to deliver ubiquitous mobile broadband that truly delights people. The fact that this world record has been achieved using our commercial Flexi Multiradio 10 Base Station is just another proof of our platforms’ superior capacity.”

“At Mobile World Congress we’re showcasing leading innovations in our Liquid Net portfolio, as well as in customer experience management, all made to work seamlessly by the expertise of our services teams. Today’s 4G world record and everything we do at the event underscores our focus on leadership in mobile broadband. It’s this focus that our customers will take away from their visits to our Experience Center,” Rouanne said.

4G wireless devices to call customer service for help

J.D. Power reported that Owners of 4G wireless devices are more likely to call customer service for help.

It’s not clear whether these 4G problems are a long-term phenomena or growing pains. In any case, J.D. Power found that 60 percent of 4G subscribers called their wireless provider in the last six months. Customers with 3G phones called their carrier 47 percent of the time. Feature phone owners only called for support 35 percent of the time.

The big problems: 4G devices see more network problems and customers don’t understand that service coverage is limited.

Given Verizon’s lead in 4G most of those calls were aimed at the carrier. Nevertheless, Verizon Wireless had to top overall customer service score.

iPhone 4G is rumored to be released in May announced this January

The year last year, or more specifically the second half of the 2009, was gratefully decorated with major smartphone announcements. Just to name a few lets bring up in mind iPhone 3GS and Palm Pre coming one after another and followed by the mobile hero of the year - the HTC Hero. Then the long awaited Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 and Motorola Droid made their appearance. By now we have Nexus One added to that lot. iPhone 3GS, despite being a revamped one and a half year old second-gen iPhone is holding very strong to its positions and better still beats the newcomers by an immense rate when it comes to loading a web page, as our colleagues were lucky to discover. If take a look in the future however we might see there an eye-pleasing glow of iPhone 4G coming out in May, 2010. At least this is what rumor mill has erected.

It is hard to be precise knowing that the point about Apple iPhone 4G is based on unofficial information, speculation about it and generalized wishlist which Apple definitely follows through evolution branches of all of its products. But we have the approximate release date - May, 2010. We also have the announcement date - that should be January 27th - the day when Apple introduces their not any less rumored tablet to the public.

Design, hardware and software have even thicker layer of fog lying upon them. But as far as we know, a significant hardware updates are planned for the next-gen iPhone. They include recently released SGX545 graphic processor, OLED touchscreen, 5 Megapixel camera or better, 4G chip. All of that as Im sure you know requires radical of changes in software and rewriting the current version will not be enough. iPhone OS 4.0 should be the answer and plausibly with multitasking feature.
